Lots of stuff going on this month!
The big news is that we sold our house early last week to a young couple who will be new faculty at SU in the fall and then literally bought a house over Memorial Day weekend. It is located in the Fremont Hills section of East Syracuse, in the ESM school district. It is on a quiet cul de sac and my co-worker Anna is just two houses down. We will be forever grateful to her for telling us about the listing! We absolutely love the house, it is everything we've been looking for and truly perfect for us. It looks like we will probably be closing sooner rather than later, as all parties want to get things wrapped up quickly since our buyers are relocating from Illinois and the sellers of our new home are being relocated to D.C. Which is doubly crazy since I will be returning to work full time in the beginning of July. When it rains, it pours!
The kids are doing great and both growing so fast. We've decided to call Caroline "Cara" for short, and in the hopes that Coop will be able to pick that name up easier than Caroline. :) He calls her "Baby" for now. She is now 7 weeks old and continues to do great. She is sleeping about 6 hours at night now, which is awesome for Mommy since I return to work in about a month. She is growing like a weed and filling out, no more skinny little newborn, she's starting to get the "chunk" and arm and leg rolls - love it! She is a little bit of a fusser, more so than Coop ever was at this age, but I suppose that's to be expected since she is a woman after all. Drama queen. Ha ha.
Cooper is almost 18 months, where has the time gone. He is picking up new words and some phrases every single day. His current favorite is "MINE!" And he says it about everything and anything. We are in THAT fun stage now. He is also expanding his picky appetite and, though he still has his daily grilled cheese, now enjoys blueberries and strawberries and bananas. We are trying to get him to eat more meat, but so far the only thing he will eat with meat in it is goulash or chili. Still a big fan of the carbs. At least he's eating, right?
Now that the weather is staying nice, we have been taking a walk as a family every single night. This week we shifted Cara from the travel system to the bjorn so that Coop can ride in the stroller and we added in the two dogs, just for good measure. CJ takes Arli and Quincy and I have the two kids. It actually worked pretty well our first two tries out, I was impressed. We must look like a zoo, or circus act, coming down the street though. :)
Coop and CJ go out in the backyard every night after our walks to play "bat ball" as Cooper calls baseball. He has a Little Tikes t-ball set (thank you Uncle Rick and Aunt Carrie) that he just loves to play with, as well as a toddler golf bag with three clubs and a few plastic golf balls. He likes to put the golf balls on the tee and hit them with the clubs baseball-style, which is too cute. We are hoping to teach him how to keep the clubs on the ground, but he prefers his method. Whatever makes him the happiest, right? He has also mastered walking up and down the sloped hill in our yard on his own, which seemed to happen so fast. He is quite the runner and keeps us going. He is definitely a toddler.
In fun family news, Amy and Jamie and Eli welcomed little baby Amelia earlier in May. She is 4 weeks younger than Miss Cara and has the prettiest deep auburn hair. Such a gorgeous color. We are also anticipating the arrival of a few more friends' babies in the coming summer months, a boy sometime soon to the Davises and a girl in early July to the Zalewskis. Can't wait to meet them.
